Extended scrappage scheme now includes V-reg cars

The Government's popular scrappage scheme has been extended to include V-registered cars and vans over eight years old.

Cars that were registered on or before 29 February 2000 (V registration) now qualify for the scrappage scheme. The scheme now also includes eight-year-old vans.

A customer with a van registered before 28 February 2002 can scrap the vehicle and use it to purchase a new car or van. Only cars registered before 29 February 2000 can be scrapped to buy a new car or a van.

The latest rules came into effect on 22 October and the scrappage scheme will end in February 2010 or when the government’s funding runs out, whichever comes first.
