Volkswagen Passat GTE.
Both practical and comfortable, the Passat GTE was first unveiled at Paris Motor Show in 2014.
Driven by petrol. Experienced with electric.
A plug-in hybrid that stands alongside the GTI and GTD variants of the popular Passat, this model is driven by a combination of two engines – a 1.4-litre 150 PS TSI direct injection petrol engine and 102 PS electric motor. This is powered by energy from an externally chargeable lithium-ion battery. The Passat GTE also features the six-speed DSG gearbox, which is characteristic of hybrid vehicles, as standard.
Simply press the button next to the gear leaver to control all-electric mode, otherwise known as ‘E-Mode’ to suit your driving preferences. This mode works best when activated at the end of a drive, when the driver is near their intended destination in the city. To achieve an impressive output while driving in GTE mode, press the corresponding button – this combines both sources of power. To really make the most of the new Passat GTE and its impressive capabilities, select ‘Boost’.
A true innovator within its class; the new Volkswagen Passat is equipped with a number of forward-thinking technologies, in addition to featuring a standout design, both inside and out. Although classically styled like the Passat, this model offers much more. In-car entertainment can be located within the driver’s eye line. Car-Net Guide & Inform apps provide the driver with as much on-the-spot information as they require, including online traffic information, locations for the cheapest petrol stations, favourite restaurants and more.
