Volkswagen Caddy TGI BlueMotionIn a first for commercial vehicles, the Volkswagen Caddy TGI Bluemotion will be fitted with a dual-clutch gearbox, which will be teamed with a natural gas drive system.
The family/city delivery van that can run on compressed natural gas or bio-natural gas is also available with a manual gearbox, but it is a first for the commercial segment to use a DSG system.
Both the panel van and passenger car variants can be ordered as a short wheelbase or in the Caddy Maxi models, meaning there are plenty of size options to choose from.
The engine is based on the new TSI petrol unit, with many of the parts adapted to suit the natural gas element. With a petrol reserve to help the BlueMotion in very cold temperatures, when the natural gas can’t be used, the Caddy TGI can be used almost everywhere, with over 4,200 CNG stations across Europe.
As well as being fitted to the taxi or delivery van versions, the CNG systems can be fitted to the four wheel drive Alltrack model, which replaces the Cross Caddy for 2016.
