Volkswagen unveils Sport Coupe Concept GTE
Previously at the Geneva International Motor Show, Volkswagen has revealed its ambitiously futuristic new concept, the Sport Coupe Concept GTE.
Volkswagens Brand Board Member for Development, Dr Heinz-Jakob Neusser has said "This concept car is a breathtakingly dynamic coupé, destined to set standards in this class. Thanks to the design in the style of an exclusive sports car combined with the added functionality of a large boot lid, we see an impressive alternative to the classic saloons of the B and C segments in this four-seater."
The Sport Coupe GTE includes a high standard interior consisting of a full length centre console and a series of digital displays and touchscreens, it provides a luxury four-seater which in return offers 480 litres of boot space. The concept has set high standards within its interior, clear design, ergonomic perfection and new interactive interfaces between human and machine help to achieve a far advanced experience within the coupe.
Powered by a plug-in hybrid system, the Sport Coupe GTE includes a turbocharged 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine that can deliver 295bhp. Two electric motors, one being set in front of the gear box providing 54bhp and the other to the rear with 114bhp are used to deliver exceptional performance for the coupe. The complete petrol-electric range can last up to 746 miles, whilst the pure electric range delivers up to 31 miles
With the power to reach 0-62mph within five seconds and achieving a top speed of 155mph, the Volkswagen plug-in Sport Coupe GTE is going to be ground breaking and is expected to hit the market later this year.
