The new Volkswagen Tiguan is an impressive SUV, due to its affordability and almost unmatched performance.
In the R-Line guise, it looks both modern and dynamic, and with the addition of an even more powerful biturbo diesel engine, it is almost the complete package in its sector. To make the model more enticing, Volkswagen is adding a 236hp BiTDI biturbo diesel engine to the top of the range Tiguan, that yields unrivalled performance in the compact SUV sector.
Fitted alongside a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox and the all-wheel drive 4Motion system, this potent mix means a 0-60mph time of 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 142mph (where law permits), which is impressive for an SUV.
Also installed onto this version of the Tiguan is the selective catalytic reduction system, which helps to convert harmful nitrogen oxide gases into water thanks to the AdBlue system. It helps to reduce overall emissions, meaning you can attain a figure as low as 167g/km of CO2 emissions.
For added power in the petrol engine range, VW is now offering a 2-litre TSI petrol unit with 177hp, which also comes with the 4Motion and offers a top speed of 129mph.
Both engines are now available for both the R-Line and SEL trim lines, and if you need more information on the engines and the Tiguan, contact your nearest Inchcape Volkswagen dealer.
