The Volkswagen Tiguan has won the German Design Award in the ‘Transportation’ category and is included among the list of the award’s winners for 2017.
Picked for its 'sporty body proportions' and 'clear and unmistakably dominant character', the second generation Tiguan is a more grown-up model than the first version and helps to make it stands out from the crowd. This helped it to earn the 'Excellent Product Design' award in the Transportation category, which has led the German Design Council to describe it as 'a new original' and 'a masterpiece'.
This accolade means that the Tiguan has won five awards for its design and the superb design ethos from Klaus Bischoff and his team is rightly being recognised.
Designed on the longer Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) – which also offers a wider and lower platform – the Tiguan has a striking and dynamic appearance that makes it very distinctive in its field.
The German Design Council was set up in 1953 by the German Bundestag, and since 2012, they have been choosing some of the world’s best designs and ideas to grant their coveted award.
